Housewife killed for dowry

 A housewife was killed allegedly by her husband for dowry at Dhonkundi village in Sherpur upazila early yesterday.  The deceased was identified as Rahela Begum, 36, wife of Joynal Fakir of the village.  Alhaj Uddin, sub-inspector of Sherpur police station, said Joynal married Rahela eight years ago. He has since been torturing Rahela to realise dowry money. On Friday night, Joynal and his family members beat Rahela mercilessly, leaving her dead on the spot following an altercation over the issue.  Abdul Latif, elder brother of Rahela, said Tk100,000 was paid to Joynal as dowry at the time of wedding. He filed a murder case implicating Joynal yesterday afternoon.
