Laxmipur: Inspector General of Police (IGP) AKM Shahidul Haque yesterday urged people to remain alert while renting out their houses for preventing militant activities in the country, reports UNB. One should be informed about things like who are renting the house and what do they do, he said adding that if there is any suspicion, police should be informed in this connection. The IGP came up with the suggestion while addressing a Community Policing Conference at Laxmipur District Stadium.
He also urged those who are involved in mobilising people in the name of militant organisations like IS, Ansarullah Bangla Team and JMB to turn away from the direction.
Regarding the recent attack on the Shia Mosque in Bogra IGP Shahidul Haque said those who carried out the attack and killed the muazzin of the mosque can never be considered as Muslims.
“This is a terrorist act. Islam doesn’t of approve of such thing,” he observed.
He also informed that so far 21 people have been sentenced to death by different courts in connection with militant activities. The execution of the court orders have been stayed because the condemned convicts have filed review petitions with the Appellate Division, he added.
