National University (NU) Vice-chancellor Professor Harun-or-Rashid said a vested quarter is trying to destroy the communal harmony, core values and syncretistic culture of Bangalees, reports BSS. "Bangladesh is country of communal harmony. Our culture is Syncretistic which have Sufism or humanities Islamic philosophy, devotionalism of Sri Chaitanya and Lalon Shah, message of peace and non-violence of Lord Buddha," he said. The vice-chancellor said: "But, we are noticing with deep concern that our core values are being attacked again and again. A vested quarter is out to destroy our social peace, harmony, mutual religious tolerance and respect." He was addressing the 3rd reunion of Bangladesh Itihas Sammilani at Teacher-Student Centre auditorium of Dhaka University. Chaired by Bangladesh Itihas Sammilani president Professor Muntassir Mamoon, the function was also attended by its general secretary Mesbah Kamal.
