Former state minister for home Lutfozzaman Babar, a death-row convict in the much-talked-about 10-truck arms haul case, underwent medical checkup at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) yesterday, reports UNB. Sources at the DMCH said Babar was taken to the hospital around 9:45 am from Kashimpur Jail in Gazipur and then sent back to the Kashimpur Jail around 12am after the medical checkup. Contacted, senior jail super of Kashimpur Jail Part-1 Mizanur Rahman said Babar was sent to the DMCH for his regular checkup following a court order as he had earlier appealed for medical treatment. According to the jail sources, Babar has been suffering from various complications, including chronic asthma, back pain, hypertension and stomachache.
