Workshop held in Khagrachhari

Speakers have underscored the need for promoting the country’s agriculture sector as the sector contributes a lot to the national economic growth.
They said this while addressing a daylong workshop organised by Bangladesh Agro-Processors’ Association (BAPA) under SME Competitiveness Grant Scheme of European Union on Preparing Successful Business Planning in progress in Khagrachhari on Friday, said a press release.
The main objective of the workshop was to assist potential SMEs and individuals for writing business proposals on innovative ideas and sustainable business concept for a competition titled Business Plan Preparation Competition.
The main participants of the business plan competition will be the small and medium enterprise (SME) entrepreneurs of target clusters and individuals who are in the Agro Food Processing Business or want to start the business.
The speakers said once upon a time our economy was based on agriculture but nowadays the scenario has changed. At present, our national economy is based on industries.
Garment sector is the main industry in our country but if we take care of our agriculture sector it can surpass the garment sector, they observed.
Taking part in the open discussion, the participants urged the authorities concerned to take necessary steps so that the future entrepreneurs can setup their SMEs without any unwanted harassment.
Participants alleged that the SMEs owners have to face manifold difficulties in connection with the marketing related issues.
