Industries minister for strengthening multi-stakeholder partnerships

Industries Minister Amir Hossain Amu expressed the hope that Bangladesh would go ahead for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) maintaining the existing trend of economic growth in next five years, reports BSS. "The government has already taken up 7th Five Year Plan with the target of increasing employment by 20 per cent in the manufacturing sector and its contribution to GDP to 21 per cent," said the minister while speaking at the panel discussion organised as part of the 6th meeting of the UNIDO's LDC Ministerial Conference in Austria.
The panel discussion on Mainstreaming Inclusive and Sustainable Industrial Development/ ISID into the national economic policies and programmes was jointly moderated by Nepalese industries minister Som Prasad Pandey and UNIDO's industry policy affairs director Augusto Luis Alcorta Silva held at Vienna International Centre, , says a press release received here yesterday.
Industries and commerce minister of Burkina Faso Hippolyte Da, industries, technology and science minister of Argentina Cristian, Breiteinstein, SAARC secretary general Arjun B Thapa, Moazam Mahmood of ILO and Manuel Montes of South Centre, among others, spoke at the discussion.
Amu underscored the need for strengthening multi stakeholder
partnerships to achieve the target of SDGs and said there is enormous scope for LDCs to achieve higher growth in the industrial sector by exchanging of goods and services and transferring technology and sharing experiences.  
Bangladesh has been working to achieve 7.5 per cent industrial growth in the next five years, he added.
