RAJSHAHI: Speakers at a daylong workshop on teachers training opined that all the teachers should have to gain competency and attain professionalism through training for teaching students properly, reports BSS. It also defined that educational qualification and skilled teachers are two separate matters. But, secondary education sector is an important phase of the country's education sector. So, there is no alternative to make the teachers of this level trained through proper training. The observation came in the dissemination workshop styled ‘Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) Policy and Procedure’ held in Rajshahi Teachers Training College (RTTC) yesterday largely attended by teachers of the district.
Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education arranged the workshop in association with Teaching Quality Improvement in Secondary Education Project. Bonomaly Bhowmik, additional secretary and director of the project, and Dr Shormin Ferdous Chowdhury, Deputy Director of Department of Secondary and High Education, addressed the workshop as the chief and special guests respectively with Prof Dilroz Ara, Principal of RTTC, in the chair. During her concept paper presentation, Raihana Taslim, Deputy Director of the project, gave an overview of the project and its ultimate goals. In the workshop, RPL Development and Implementation Specialist Tobarak Hossain and Secondary Teachers Competency Development Specialist Dr Richard DLC Gonzales also illustrated various aspects of the issue and its field level implementation.
