RCC committed to ensure free primary healthcare

RAJSHAHI: Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) is committed to ensure cost-free primary healthcare services to its poor and distressed communities for their welfare and betterment, reports BSS. To this end, the city corporation has launched red card distribution activities. RCC authorities revealed this in a coordination meeting of partnership committee of Urban Primary Healthcare Services Delivery Project held at its conference room in the city yesterday afternoon.
With Nizam-Ul Azim, acting mayor of RCC, in the chair, Chief Executive Officer Ajahar Ali, Secretary Syeda Zebin Nissa Sultana, Civil Surgeon Dr Abdus Sobhan, General Secretary of local unit BMA Dr Khalilur Rahman and RCC Chief Health Officer Dr AFM Anjuman Ara Begum attended and addressed the meeting.
Addressing the meeting Nizam-Ul Azim stressed the need for improving the pro-poor maternal and child healthcare services for substantial and sustainable reduction in maternal and infant mortality and morbidity.
In the preliminary stage, 10,646 poor and distressed families will get the cards under Urban Primary Healthcare Services Delivery Project to be executed by Resource Integration Centre.
He said importance should be given on bringing all the pregnant mothers under the services of antenatal care, safe delivery and postnatal services for the sake of ensuring safe delivery and maternal and infant health.
