A Bangladeshi cattle trader was shot dead by the Indian Boarder Security Forces (BSF) at Doikhawa frontier of Hatibandha upazila of the district early yesterday. The deceased was identified as Amulya Chandra Barman, 38, son of Mohesh Chandro Barmon, a resident of Daikhola in Hatibandha. When a group of Bangladeshi cattle traders were trying to bring cattle from India, a patrol team of BSF from 21 Bara Maricha camp fired gunshots, leaving Amulya dead on the spot, said Lt Col Bazlur Rahman Hayati, captain of 15 Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) battalion of the district, adding that BGB made a strong protest against the killing.
