The Ministry of Cultural Affairs has arranged book fairs titled ‘Divisional/District book fair’ in four districts of the country- Dinajpur, Chittagong, Rajshahi and Sylhet, reports UNB. Cultural Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Noor, in a press briefing, has announced the dates of the book fairs, organised in cooperation with Bangladesh Gyan O Srijonshil Prakashak Samity.
He said book fairs will be held in Rajshahi from November 28 to December 5, in Dinajpur from December 11-19, in Chittagong from December 30 to January 8 and in Sylhet from January 11-18, 2016 aiming to develop reading habit among people and establish a knowledge-based society.
The Minister said due to success of earlier book fairs across the country, his ministry has decided to continue the tradition as it has received massive response from publishers and book lovers alike.
Asaduzzaman Noor also informed that over 70 publishing houses from Dhaka will take part in the book fairs.
He also said initiatives will be taken to arrange book fair in all divisional and district towns in future.
Cultural Affairs acting secretary Aktari Mamtaz, additional secretary Mashiur Rahman, additional secretary (admin) Mahbuba Moshqur, vice president of Bangladesh Gyan O Srijonshil Prakashak Samity Mazharul Islam, among others, were present at the press briefing.
