The government yesterday filed three appeals in the Supreme Court, seeking a stay on the High Court order granting bail to BNP acting secretary-general, Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, in three vandalism and arson cases.
The chamber judge of the Appellate Division, Justice Hasan Foez Siddique, sent the petitions to the full bench of the apex court for hearing on November 30. Sabir Hossain Leon, one of Fakhrul’s counsel, told reporters that his client was not likely to walk out of jail before the government’s appeals were disposed of.
