Seminar on promoting reverse engineering echnology begins at DU
A three-day long seminar on "Promoting Reverse Engineering Technology in Bangladesh: An Aspect of Pharmaceutical Industry-Academia Collaboration" begins yesterday at the Centre for Advanced Research in Sciences (CARS) auditorium of Dhaka University (DU). DU Pro-vice chancellor (Academic) Professor Nasreen Ahmad inaugurated the seminar as the chief guest with Professor Emeritus AK Azad Chowdhury in the chair.
Chairman of the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Research, Marshall University, USA Prof M Omar Faruk Khan, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy Prof M Saiful Islam, Chairman of the Department of Pharmaceutical Technology Prof M Selim Reza, Chairman of the Department of Pharmacy Prof Sitesh Chandra Bachar, Chairman of the Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry Prof Mehedi Masud, Prof Abu Sara Shamsur Rouf of the Department of Pharmaceutical Technology and Managing Director of UniMed and UniHealth Manufacturers Limited M Mosaddek Hossain addressed the inaugural function, among others.
Prof Nasreen Ahmad, in her speech, stressed the need for expansion of pharmaceutical industries and drug productions in Bangladesh to promote reverse engineering
technology.
She thanked the organisers of the seminar and hoped that participants would be highly benefited by this three-day long seminar.
US professor meets DU VC
Faruk Khan, chairman of the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Research of Marshall University, USA called on Dhaka University (DU) Vice-Chancellor AAMS Arefin Siddique on Tuesday at his office.
Chairman of the Department of Pharmacy of DU Sitesh Chandra Bachar and other faculty members were present on the occasion.
During the meeting they discussed various issues including development of Pharmacy education in Bangladesh.
They also discussed the possibilities of undertaking joint collaborative academic and research programs by DU and Marshall University, USA.
Seminar on new topological states of quantum matter
A day-long Bose seminar on "New Topological States of Quantum Matter" was held
yesterday at the Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban of Dhaka University.
Dhaka University Vice-chancellor Professor AAMS Arefin Siddique chaired the function organised by Bose Centre for Advanced Study and Research in Natural Sciences of DU.
Dr M Zahid Hasan, Professor of the Department of Physics of Princeton University, USA delivered the keynote speech on the occasion.
Prof Arefin Siddique, in his speech, stressed the need for strengthening scientific research and education in the country to meet the global challenges of the 21st century.
He urged the young generation to make themselves global standard scientists through education and research.
