Eviction faces obstruction

A mobile court of Chittagong City Corporation (CCC) yesterday faced obstruction by illegal occupants when the court went to conduct a drive to evict them from a grabbed portion of land of Lake City Housing in Biswas Colony area of the city. A chase and counter-chase took place between the occupants of the land and police. Later police brought the situation under control by firing nine blank shots. CCC magistrate Nazia Shirin led the drive. Some land of Lake City Housing had been under illegal occupation by some local influential people for long and the court went there to evict the occupants; being organised, they carried out an attack on the mobile court,” said Sadip Kumar Das, officer-in-charge (OC) of Akbarshah police station.
