The admission tests for the honours courses of Barisal University (BU) will be held today and tomorrow. Vice Chancellor of the university Dr SM Emanul Haque in a view exchange meeting with the local administration, police and journalists     on the temporary of the university on Wednesday evening said the tests will be held in seven centres, including the temporary and permanent campus of BU, Government Barisal College, Government Women’s College, Government Commerce College, Amrita Lal Dey College and Barisal Model School and College in the city. The admission test for ‘Kha’ unit will be held from 10am today while the test for ‘Ga’ unit from 3pm. The entry test for ‘Gha’ unit will be held from 10am tomorrow while the test for ‘Ka’ unit from 3pm. The admission battle will take place for a total of 1,300 seats in 18 departments under six faculties.   The departments include English and Bangla under the Humanities faculty; Economics, Sociology,  Public Administration and Political Science departments under the Social Science Faulty;
Marketing ,Management , Accounting and Information System, Finance and Banking departments under the Business Faculty; Mathematics and Physics  departments under Science and Engineering Faculty, Geology and Mining, Soil and Environmental Science, Botany and Crop Science departments under Bio Science and Agriculture Faculty and Law department under Law faculty . Detailed seat plan for the applicants will be available on the BU website (www.barisaluniv.edu.bd), said, Faisal Mahmud Rumi, public relations officer of BU. A total of 27,563 students have registered to sit for this year’s admission test in the university, the fourth since its establishment averaging about 22 contenders for each of the seats available. There are a total of 1,300 seats this year, divided among 18 departments under six faculties, said the same source. No handbag, calculator or mobile phone or nay electronic device will be allowed inside the examination halls as per the BU announcement.
