A Sylhet court yesterday convicted a man and sentenced him to life term imprisonment and fined Tk 20,000 for killing his cousin in 2013. The convict was identified as Liakat Ali, son of Arab Ali, a resident of Jalalnagar village in Beanibazar upazila. According to the prosecution, Tarek Ahmed, son of Manik Miah, was stabbed to death by his cousin Liakat Ali over a trifle matter on 16 August, 2013. Later, Asma Begum, mother of deceased, filed a murder case with Beanibazar Police Station in this connection. Delwar Hussain, sub-inspector of Beanibazar police station, submitted a charge sheet on March 4, 2014 accusing only Liakat Ali for this murder.
