9 containers impounded in Ctg port

Customs Intelligence and Investigation Directorate (CIID) yesterday   impounded nine containers of JA Enterprise in Chittagong Port for allegedly importing Clear Float Glass under false declaration. The nine 20 feet long containers were imported from China declaring to be containing ‘Clear figured  Glass’, however,  after examining the sample, the content was found ‘Clear Float Glass’, said Zakir Hossain, Deputy Director of CIID of Chittagong. A case was lodged in this connection. BSS adds from Chitta-gong: Chittagong Metro-politan Police (CMP) in a drive detained a yaba ‘trader’ with 1000 pieces of contraband yaba tablets from city's Shah Amanat bridge area early yesterday, reports BSS. A team of Bakalia thana police on secret information detained Nurul Islam, 53, with the yaba tablets from a Chittagong bound passenger bus from Teknaf upazila of the district.
