Terrorism not a path of true Muslim: PM

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina yesterday said terrorism and suicide are not the path of a true Muslim and the elements engaged in such crimes have perverted mentality, report agencies. “The path of terrorism and suicide (bombing) is not for a “sachcha Muslim” (real Muslim)...killing people inside mosques is not a path of a real Muslim. Those who commit such crimes are doing these misdeeds with a perverted mentality,” she said. Sheikh Hasina, also the AL President, called upon the youth community, students and general pious people to create public awareness in this regard so none gets involved in such heinous crimes. “If it happens, attacks would come on the Muslims and their life would be tormented. So all will have to remain alert to such offences,” she said. While delivering her introductory speech at an emergency meeting of Awami League Central Working Committee and Awami League Parliamentary Board at her official Ganabhaban residence in the capital yesterday evening, the AL president also said Ziaur Rahman and HM Ershad can no longer be called former presidents of Bangladesh as the country’s apex court declared them illegal presidents.  "If Zia and Ershad are called former presidents, then it’ll be the violation of the higher court verdict," she said.
