Young Chinese Tai Chi masters practicing with each other, lithe Indian yogis stretching arms and legs… This harmonious scene appeared at the opening ceremony of the India Pavilion of the 2015 China International Travel Mart (CITM). China and India, just like their two different yet compatible sports, are increasing mutual understanding and developing in harmony.
As the guest of honour of the 2015 CITM, India was a veritable star. The opening of the India pavilion attracted the attention of many visitors. When the drums unique to Karnataka were beaten, dancers wearing heavy make-ups and gorgeous costumes got onto the stage. The drumbeats were now fast and then slow, and the dance steps were sometimes subtle and sometimes exaggerated, giving people a glimpse of the ancient and mysterious Indian culture. On the TV screen behind the dancers, a scroll of Indian tourist attractions was unfolded, revealing the Taj Mahal, the Ganges, the Agra Fort. The exotic scenery and customs of this “incredible” country fascinated visitors.
From the initial exchanges between Chinese and Indian monks, to the later exchanges between scholars, to today’s mutual tourism exchanges, the exchanges between China and India are increasingly more profound. In the India Pavilion, you can see the beautiful scenery, the unique handicrafts and the unique lines launched by Indian tourism authorities. “There is still much room for tourism exchanges between China and India. Through these exchanges, we hope more Chinese people will understand India, and fall in love with India,” said Mahesh Sharma, Indian Minister of Tourism.
Besides enjoying the yoga performances and the Indian dances, visitors also lingered in front of various posters. It is a common hope of many people to enjoy India’s natural beauty and mysterious culture. Tourism pamphlets in front of the India Pavilion were soon gone. Seeing the enthusiasm of Yunnan people, Wei Zijian of Indian Legends Holidays Company said excitedly: “India is the guest of honour this year’s CITM, so we must seize this opportunity to introduce Indian tourism attractions to Yunnan tourists. In the past few years, more and more Yunnan people are travelling to India.”
