Group exhibition on Oriental Art ends at National Museum Nov 30

A week-long group exhibition titled ‘Bangladeshe Prachchoshilper Bistar’ is currently ongoing at the Nalini Kanto Bhattashali Gallery of Bangladesh National Museum (BNM), Shahbag in the city.
Bangladesh Society of Oriental Art and Bangladesh National Museum organised the exhibition as part of a government project to expand the prominence of oriental art.
Prime Minister’s International Affairs Adviser Dr Gowher Rizvi inaugurated the exhibition on Monday as Chief guest while Professor Dr Muntasir Mamun, Department of History, University of Dhaka and prominent architect and art critic Rabiul Husain were present as special guests. Presided over by director general of BNM Faizul Latif Chowdhury, convener of the exhibition committee Afroza Jamil Konka delivered the welcome speech at the event.
Dr Gowher Rizvi said, “Oriental Art is being practiced in different countries of East including Bangladesh. Deep feeling and creative talent of the eastern artists to the oriental art will be found through the exhibition. With the exhibition, new generations of the country will get a new direction about Oriental Art.”
122 artists across the country, including Dhaka, Rajshahi, Chittagong, Khulna are participating in the exhibition with their works. Among others the notable participating artists are Shafiqul Amin, Rashid Chowdhury, Aminul Islam, Professor Md Abul Hashem Khan, Tajul Islam, Professor Dr Md Abdus Sattar and Professor Nasreen Begum
The week-long exhibition will remain open to all every day from 9am to 7pm (Friday: 2:30pm–7:30pm), until November 30.
