Arrest, punishment of attackers demanded

Locals formed a human chain yesterday demanding arrest and punishment of the attackers on Dr Piero Parolari, an Italian national on November 18 in Dinajpur town.
 North Bengal Christian Association, a platform of Christian communities organised the hour long human chain programme held in front of Dinajpur Press Club in the morning.
Speakers condemned the attacks on Piero Parolari in Dinajpur and Pastor Luke Sarker in Pabna and demanded arrest and punishments of the attackers as early as possible.    
Later, they held a press conference at Dinajpur Press Club auditorium.Robbert R N Das, member secretary of North Bengal Christian Association read out the keynote. Jogen Julian Beshra, convener of the organisation along with others were also present there.At the press conference, they announced different programmes to be held to protest the attacks on Christian community in Bangladesh in recent months.
On November 29, they will hold candle lighting at churches and next day they would observe work absentia wearing black badges.Sister Titina D Souza and Father Gianito Nitti said they are here in Bangladesh to spread the messages of peace. But the attack on them was unjust. They think that the government would act properly for their protection alongside to find out the attackers.
Dr Piero Parolari, an Italian national was shot on November 18 in front of the BRTC Bus terminal in Dinajpur. Bijoy Toppo, a member of the committee said health condition of Dr Piero has improved much.
