Student gets one year jail

A student of Hajee Mohammad Danesh Science and Technology University (HSTU) was jailed for one year after he was found appearing in the admission test of Jatiya Kabi Kazi Nazrul Islam University (JKKNIU) impersonating a candidate in Trishal upazila yesterday.
The court also fined the convict Zaman Ullah, 25, a student of Finance Department of Hajee Mohammad Danesh Science and Technology University in Dinajpur, Tk 500.
On suspicion, an invigilator at the examination centre challenged Zaman and he admitted that he sat for the test changing the photo of the real applicant Ariful Islam. Later, he was handed over to police, said Moniruzzaman, officer-in-charge of Trishal police station.
Police produced him before a mobile court. The court led by Trishal Upazila Nirbahi Officer Jannatul Ferdous handed down the verdict around 4.30 pm.
