Death-over specialist got slog-over specialist
Dhaka Dynamites Pakistan recruit Yasir Shah started the BPL exactly from where he ended. His probing guile and turn was too hot to handle for the English batsman in UAE. Here in BPL, he now, continued terrifying the batsmen. Riders were well set to take the score closer to 200 after scoring 133 for three in 15 overs. As the last overs began, Kumar Sangakkara called up Shah to resist Riders from the late onslaught. He duly did that, conceding just 14 in his last two overs spell in which he took the wickets of well-set Mohammad Mithun (34 off 22) and slog over specialist Darren Sammy (3) to limit the Riders score to 176 in a batting paradise. Shah finally retuned figures of 4-0-24-2.
Off-cutter does the trick
Mustafizur may return with his worst economy rate but his off-cutters remains mystery for the batsmen still. His two wickets in the match however came via off-cutters as Soumya Sarkar and Thisara Perera failed to decode it. However his another stock delivery ‘slower’ was also not as effective as the Riders batsmen seemed to have decoded him well.
Shakib enthralls crowd
After scoring an unbeaten 24 off 15, Shakib Al Hasan yet again propped up his game with bowling.48 hours after he became the highest wicket-taker in BPL’s history, Shakib recorded his best bowling figure in the tournament by claiming four for 16 which sealed an easy victory for his side against Dhaka Dynamites.
Optimism not optimal
Coming off with rampant form, from the All Stars T20 series in USA, in which he was the highest run-getter and player of the series amongst the galaxy of stars, Dhaka Dynamites captain Kumar Sangakkara was expected to show his sheer class and appetite for runs in BPL. He was compact and patient against Comilla Victorians in Dhaka’s first match. However his service in batting was badly needed in pursuit of a big chase against Rangpur.
