Tk 2,521cr disbursed in Q1

Banks and financial institutions (FIs) disbursed Taka 2 thousand 521 crore to women entrepreneurs in the first three months (Q1) of the current 2015-16 financial year (FY16), said Bangladesh Bank (BB) Governor Atiur Rahman yesterday, reports BSS.
The governor was addressing a seminar on the sideline of the first ever banking fair, being held in the capital.
Speaking on the problem and prospect of country's Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), the governor underscored the need for promoting women entrepreneurship as women share half of the total population.
Rahman mentioned that the central bank already suggested all banks and FIs to expedite their loan disbursement to SME sector, with putting high emphasis on promoting women entrepreneurship.
