Candidates and their guardians put up barricade on the Station Road in front of Rangpur Press Club yesterday for one hour protesting realisation of additional fees against from fill-up for the up coming Secondary School Certificate examinations.
The guardians along with SSC candidates went to Lions School and College, Mahiganj Girls High School and College and met with the school and college authorities and demanded to return excess money.
Later, the students and guardians came in front of Press Club and blockaded the Station Road for one hour.
The guardians allegeded that Education Board instructed all the schools not to take additional fees. The guardians said the High Court also ordered the school authorities to return the excess amount.
The guardians said that the board fixed Taka 1445 for science candidate and for Arts and commerce candidate Taka 1355.
In the meantime deputy commissioner, Rangpur instructed the authorities of all the schools of the district to return the excess amount.
But the school authorities violated the instruction and order of the High Court even instruction of deputy commissioner in Rangpur.
The guardians alleged that the school authorities threatened students with failing them in the subjects once they return of the money,
Enamul Hoque, Ayesha Begum, Bappi Rahman, Ahasanul Hoque Arefin Titu, Rokonuzzaman Rokon, Kamrun Nahar spoke in the programme, among others.
