Customs officials seized 15,600 contraband cigarettes worth around Tk one crore at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in the capital yesterday morning, reports UNB.
Tipped off, a team of customs intelligence officials conducted a drive at the freight section of the airport and recovered the smuggled cigarettes in the morning, said Mainul Khan, director general of the Customs Intelligence and Investigation Directorate. The cigarettes contained in five cartons were brought to Dhaka by ‘0162’ flight of Malindo Air from Kuala Lampur that landed at the airport on Tuesday midnight.
