780 expats released from quarantine

More 780 expatriates were released from home-quarantine after they were found no symptoms of coronavirus completing their 14-day stay at home as quarantine period in all ten districts under Khulna division in the last 24 hours till 8am yesterday. Talking to BSS yesterday, Assistant Director (Disease Control) of Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) in Khulna division Dr. Ferdousi Akther said a total of 192 expatriates have been kept under home-quarantine in last 24 hours in all ten districts of Khulna division.

Among them, 27 expatriates have been placed at home -quarantine in Khulna, 20 in Bagerhat, 86 in Satkhira, 31 in Jashore, one in Magura, 6 in Narail, one in Kustia and 20 in Meherpur districts.

With them, a total of 12,224 expatriates were quarantined at homes so far in the division and of them, 780 were given clearance in last 24 hours as they were found no symptoms of coronavirus after their stay in home quarantine for 14 days, she said.

Among the home quarantined 12,224 expatriates, 1,837 overseas returnees have been placed at home-quarantine in Khulna, 1,537 in Bagerhat, 2,842 in Satkhira, 2,414 in Jashore, 963 in Jhenaidah , 397 in Magura, 512 in Narail, 660 in Kustia, 515 in Chuadanga and 547 in Meherpur districts in the division.

 “The Armed Forces, civil and police administrations, municipalities, local government bodies and voluntary organisations are working exclusively to ensure social distancing for preventing community transmission of COVID-19,” she added.

The ongoing efforts include motivation of common people to raise their awareness, distribution of leaflets and masks, spraying antibiotics on roads and in public places, conducting hand-washing cleanliness campaign and maintain social distance to prevent contagion of COVID-19.
