The High Court yesterday asked the government to submit a report explaining why the case filed in connection with the seizure of 45,000 bullets and 36 kgs of explosives in Bogra could not be disposed of even in 12 years, reports UNB.
An HC bench comprising Justice M Enayetur Rahim and Justice Amir Hossain passed the order while hearing a bail petition filed by an accused, Ashis Deb Barma, in the case.
Advocate Syed Mamun Mahbub stood for the bail petitioner while Deputy Attorney General Sheikh Moniruzzaman represented the state.
Talking to reporters, Mahbub said the HC bench rejected the bail pleas and asked the Home Secretary and the Law Secretary to submit a report within 45 days as to why the case was not disposed of even in 12 years.
The court also asked the Bogra Trial Tribunal-4 to dispose of the case within four months.
Police recovered some 45,000 bullets of Chinese rifles and 36 kgs of explosives from a truck in Bogra on June 27, 2003.
Police filed a case with Sadar Police Station the following day.
Police pressed charges against seven people on September 1 in the same year.
