Brothel kingpin jailed for life

A court yesterday sentenced a brothel kingpin to life-term imprisonment and fined her Tk 50,000 on charge of forcing a minor girl to work in sex trade. The convict has been identified as Mamataz Begum, 44, keeper of Rathkhola brothel in the district town. Public prosecutor Babu Mollah informed that a group of traffickers enticed the minor girl with providing a good job and took her to Dhaka. Later they took her to Rathkhola brothel and sold her to Mamataz. Police rescued the girl on the basis of complaint made by the victim’s maternal uncle on January 2, 2012 from the brothel. Her uncle filed a case the same day.
