The United States recognises the complexity of the task that lies ahead in addressing the issue of extremist threat, US Ambassador Marcia Bernicat said yesterday. During a meeting with Jatiya Party Chairman HM Ershad, she also reaffirmed Washington’s commitment to cooperate with its partners in this regard, said a US Embassy press release. In addition, it said that Ambassador Bernicat underscored that a strong US-Bangladesh relationship benefits both the countries and their peoples, and promotes regional and global security. “We stand with the people of Bangladesh in countering the common threat that both our countries face,” said the envoy.
