The Shab-e-Barat, the holy night of fortune and forgiveness, will be observed across the country on the night of April 9 (Thursday) as the moon of the month of Shaban was not sighted in Bangladesh yesterday. The decision was taken at the National Moon Sighting Committee meeting yesterday evening. Shab-e-Barat is observed on the 15th night of the Arabic month of Shaban and people of Muslim Ummah offer special prayers, recite the Holy Quran and take part in other religious rituals.
Muslims consider Shab-e-Barat as one of the three most sacred nights and believe that on this night, the Almighty Allah decides the fate of all human beings fixing their ‘rizq’ (livelihood) for the next year.
The devotees across the country will visit graves and pray for their beloved ones seeking their eternal peace. Many will also visit mazars and shrines of saints all over the country.
