Five Bangladeshis — including three women and two men — died of COVID-19 in two hospitals of New York in the United States within a day. Three of them died in Elmhurst Hospital, while two others passed away in Plainview Hospital. One of the male patients at Elmhurst Hospital hailed from Sonaimuri upazila in Noakhali. He lived in Brooklyn. Another man, who died at the same hospital, was from Moulavibazar. He lived in Asteria.
Two other deceased hailed from Rangpur and Dhaka's Mohammadpur area, respectively. They used to live in West Bay Shore of Long Island and Elmhurst, respectively.
Relatives of the deceased told the media that the New York hospitals would now take two to three days to hand over the dead bodies of the deceased. As of now, nine Bangladeshis died of coronavirus in New York.
