Rihanna’s Clara Lionel Foundation has donated $5 million to fight the coronavirus pandemic.
The 32-year-old artist is the latest among a number of celebrities, including Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds, Ciara and Russell Wilson and others, to step up amid the COVID-19 outbreak.
The $5 million will go to food banks serving at-risk communities, testing resources in underprivileged countries, protective equipment and training for health workers and distribution of respiratory supplies, according to a statement on the foundation’s website.
The Clara Lionel Foundation will work with several charities including Direct Relief, Feeding America and the World Health Organization.
“We know that one of the most powerful weapons we have against COVID-19 is preparedness,” the statement read.
Rihanna started the foundation in 2012 in honor of her grandparents, Clara and Lionel Braithwaite.
