A man accused in 17 cases was killed during an alleged gunfight with police in the capital's Khilgaon area yesterday. The man was identified as Sohel alias Jhono (30). Khilgaon police said airport police attested Sohel on Saturday. Later, he was taken to Khilgaon Police Station the same night.
A police team went to the spot along with Sohel in the early hours yesterday.
Sohel’s associates opened fire when the police team reached the spot around 2:45am, the OC claimed.
During the ensuing gunfight, Sohel suffered wounds. Later, he was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where the doctor pronounced him dead.
Police also recovered a pistol from the spot.
