Yaba pills worth Tk 1.5cr seized in Narayanganj

RAB on Saturday arrested four drug peddlers along with 47,320 pieces of yaba tablets, worth about Tk 1.5 crore, from Bandar area of Narayanganj.

A microbus used for yaba smuggling was also confiscated from Madanpur bus stand area on Dhaka-Chattogram Highway under Bandar police station early in the morning.

The arrestees are -- Jamal Hossain, 31, of Moshang area under Uzirpur thana of Barishal, Tanveeer Hasan, 34, of Baborkhana area, Shafiqul Islam, 20, of Islampur area under sadar thana of Cox’s Bazar and Jamal Uddin, 32, of Bhoramohori area under Chokoria thana of the same district. Lt Col Imran Ullah Sarker, commander of RAB-11, made the disclosure in a press release in the afternoon.

The arrestees told RAB that they were bringing yaba from Cox’s Bazar by microbus and were selling it in Narayanganj, Narsingdi, Dhaka and adjacent areas for a long time. Besides, they used to supply yaba in Barishal regularly. Legal measures were taken against the arrestees.
