At least five different shops and 12 warehouses were gutted in a fire that broke out in city’s Kaptai Rastar Matha early yesterday. The fire first originated from an electric short-circuit at a shop and soon engulfed the adjoining shops. Five fire fighting vehicles from Bayezid and Kalurghat fire stations brought the fire under control after one and a half hour of frantic efforts. Touhidul Islam, fire station officer of Chattogram told journalists that five shops and 12 warehouses were burnt to ashes in the incident.
