Four members of Maldives team stay back in Dhaka

Coronavirus issues halted the travel of four members including an official of the TC Sports Cub of Maldives, who played their AFC Cup match against Bashundhara Kings on March 11 in Dhaka, are still living in Bangladesh in a hotel in the capital. Due to coronavirus issues, connection of different flights of different destinations to Maldives airport have been restricted, therefore the passengers of Maldives from Dhaka have to travel to Male through Colombo and have to take the transit visa of Sri Lanka, an official of the Bashundhara Kings informed.

According to the official of the Bashundhara Kings, all of 30 members of the TC Sports Club, who arrived here in Dhaka on March 9 to play their AFC Cup away match on March 11, have already left Dhaka just a day after their match on March 12 but four could not.  Among the four including three players and an officials are still in Dhaka.    Beside the official, the three players of the team have no Sri Lankan visas, as they were not permitted to take transit of Colombo. Among the four members two players of Egypt, one from Pakistani and the official, a Maldives citizen.  

The Bashundhara official also informed The Independent yesterday that the official of TC Sports Club had no problem, as he had could leave Dhaka because he has the Sri Lankan visa but rest of three, two Egyptian and one Pakistani have no visa of Sri Lanka and they were forced to stay back. The official of the team staying with the players to take care of them. Now they have been waiting and trying to manage visa for Sri Lanka to travel to Maldives, but four members are living in the hotel at their own cost but Bashundhara officials have every communication with them, the Kings’ official said.
