Tigers’ 3rd phase tour of Pakistan ‘uncertain’

Sports Reporter, Dhaka

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) CEO Nizamuddin Chowdhury said they will fix a suitable time for the Bangladesh team’s third-phase Pakistan tour discussing with Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). The BCB CEO also said they will inform the matter formally within the next 24 hours (Saturday). “It’ll not be right to say anything about the matter of touring the Bangladesh team in Pakistan. We’ve to consider what is happening across the world,” Nizamuddin Chowdhury said.

“Flights are being closed across the world. International matches and events are being held without spectators. In some places, it is being suspended for indefinite period. So, we are observing the overall situation,” Chowdhury told media yesterday. “We will make sure of the matter within the next 24 hours,” he added. Even though Bangladesh toured Pakistan in the initial two phases, Bangladesh’s tour in Pakistan for the third and final phase is likely to fall in the lap of the worldwide deadly coronavirus outburst.

Tamim-Mominul and their troops are scheduled to tour Pakistan for a one-off ODI and Test in April. But it’s learnt from the sources close to the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) that the third phase tour of the Bangladesh team in Karachi, Pakistan is not being held in due time. Bangladesh meanwhile decided not to tour Pakistan in April in the wake of the widespread of the lethal coronavirus (COVID-19). Even their discussion with the PCB is going on. The PCB did not force BCB to tour Pakistan in the wake of the widespread COVID-19 across the globe.

Even, the BCB has got a directive from the government not to tour Pakistan at this moment. The matches in the third phase were slated to take place in Karachi where the coronavirus-affected people have been detected for which schools and colleges have been postponed for the next week. An additional security has been imposed in the main airport of the Karachi-Jinnah International Airport for which the routes of many flights have been closed. It’s become a biggest problem to travel in Pakistan.
