Members of Bangladesh Coast Guard (BCG) in a drive recovered two lakh pieces of contraband yaba tablets from the Karnafuli River early yesterday. The BGC sources said they seized the yaba from 15 no Ghat, adjacent to city’s Patenga thana, and no smugglers were detained in this connection. Coast Guard East Zone Staff Officer (Operations) Lieutenant Commander Mohammad Saiful Islam told the news agency that, on a tip-off, a team of the BGC conducted a drive in the area and seized the contraband drugs from the ghat. He said two persons involved in yaba transporting have been identified and a BCG team is conducting drive to nab them.
