Maktab teacher arrested for ‘rape attempt’

Police on Thursday arrested a teacher of a mosque-based Maktab in the city’s Pallabi area allegedly for making rape attempt on an eight-year-old girl. The arrestee is Nazir Hossain, 25, a teacher of a mosque-based Maktab in Kalshi. Rafiqul Islam, officer-in-charge of Pallabi Police Station, said police arrested Nazir soon after they got an allegation of rape attempt from the victim’s family.  Nazir tried to rape the girl on Thursday morning when she went to Maktab, said sources at Pallabi Police Station. The child was sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for medical checkup, the officer-in-charge said, adding that a case was filed against the arrestee with Pallabi Police Station.
