221 voluntary blood donors honoured

Quantum Foundation, a voluntary blood donors' organisation, on Thursday honoured a total of 221 voluntary blood donors who have donated blood multiple times in their lifetime. Prof Dr Nizamuddin Ahmed, head of Centre for Palliative Care Department of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU), handed over crests and certificates among them at a ceremony at Institution of Diploma Engineers, (IDEB). Prof Nizamuddin said, “Donating blood is one of the greatest activities of human beings. It can expand people’s soft-values, morals and inner qualities.”  

At the programme, the foundation honoured the regular blood donors in three categories -- platinum, gold and silver-- with crests, certificates and special identity cards. The silver blood donors got recognition for donating at least 10 bags of blood while the golden donors were acknowledged for donating at least 25 bags and platinum donors for donating 50 bags bloods voluntarily. Chief-coordinator of the Quantum Foundation Madam Nahar Al Bokhari presided over the function.
