Govt wants to implement welfare oriented projects

Planning Minister MA Mannan, MP, on Thursday said the government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina wants to implement the projects which are beneficial for the people. We will spend money to benefit the people and project implementing entities should remain cautious to this end, he told a reception accorded to him at city bhaban here.
Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) organised the meeting with RCC Mayor AHM Khairuzzaman Liton in the chair. Mannan said all the government projects must be implemented properly so that the target group of people can enjoy benefit of those. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, he said, wants to improve the living standard of Rajshahi people through time-befitting projects.
He told the meeting that a mega project involving around Tk 3,000 crore has been approved in the ECNEC meeting recently for infrastructural development in Rajshahi city. Many other projects are also being implemented for development of the city, he added. Mayor Liton apprised the minister that the city corporation has been implementing six projects involving around Tk 795.59 crore.
The meeting was addressed, among others, by Secretary to the Statistics and Information Management Division Saurendra Nath Chakrabhartty, RCC Chief Executive Officer Dr Sharif Uddin, Secretary Abu Hayat Rahmatullah and Chief Engineer Ashraful Haque.
