In-form Nafees aims to end year on high

Shahriar Nafees aims to carry his recent form to the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) for Barisal Bulls in order to sign off a highly successful domestic year with good note.
Nafees is one of the just two Bangladeshi players to hit a century in BPL. Mohammad Ashraful is the other but Nafees has the distinction to smash century as the first local player in 2012.
“Since one and half a year I’ve been toiling hard to prepare myself so I could move forward with my target to perform continuously. I reckon myself bit successful in my initiative.  I’ll try to play well in BPL,” Shahriar Nafees told the reporters yesterday.
“I’ve been performing well in domestic cricket since one and half a year. I’ll try to keep its continuation in BPL,” Nafees, who was the top-scorer in National Cricket League (NCL) with 715, hitting back-to-back century alongside four half-centuries, also said.
Nafees said he is now aiming to fare well in BPL by contributing in his team’s success.
“I had performed well at almost every match in BPL last year. We’ll get 10 more matches in BPL. I’ve no specific target to score. But the better performance always inspires players. The last national league has been done well. I’ll try every effort to maintain its continuation in BPL and contribute for the team’s success,” he informed.
 “I strongly believe that the success in BPL will rely on local player’s performance,  and if so it would be a good sign for Bangladesh cricket,” Nafees, who played the first and lone Twenty20 international for Bangladesh and led the team against Zimbabwe in 2006 and won the match in Khulna, opined.
“We’ll try to bring the spotlight toward us by showcasing better performance. We can at least start the trend from this BPL that we can familiarise the team after the name of Ryad, Mushfiq or Nafees or Tamim,” Barisal-born batsman thought.
