Chittagong Vikings will take on Sylhet Super Stars while Barisal Bulls lock horns with Rangpur Riders on the second day of the BRB T20 tournament of Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium today.
For Sylhet and Barisal, it would be their first match in the tournament.
At National Cricket Academy (NCA) ground Bulls held their pre-match day preparation with the participation of local and overseas players, where experienced Shahriar Nafees said that they are eying to start their BPL campaign with triumph.
“We want to start our BPL journey with victory. But it’s not possible to perform in Twenty20 only by prediction. It’s very difficult form of cricket. If we can start well then it is possible to do well,” Nafees said.
He said that they have formed a balanced team with the mix of local and foreign players, who are capable to fetch good result.
“Our team has been balanced well. Icon player Mahmudullah Riyad alongside Sabbir are in good touch. We have Rony Talukdar in the team. Mohammad Sami, Kevon Cooper, Brenden Taylor amongst the foreign players that made the team balanced. We all try together to bring good result for the team,” the south-paw also said.
The opening batsman said that they are strong in both pace and spin attack, which can help them to bring success.
“Our pace attack is much better. We’ve the experienced pacers of IPL like Mohammad Sami, Kevon Cooper. We’ve also off-spinner Sohag Gazi and left-arm spinner Taijul Islam,”
“We’ve Al Amin and Sajidul Islam among the local pacers. The team is balanced overall. But those who will play better cricket in given day will be successful. All we will try to perform together.”
“It’ll be a huge experience for me to open with Chris Gayle. He is an asset for any team. I’ll get the chance to open with him after his arrival.”
Sylhet Coach Sarwar Imran however was optimistic to give Chittagong a second successive defeat when they take on the port city. Chittagong Vikings lost their first match to Rangpur Riders by two wickets.
