Indian state Tripura will start supplying power to Bangladesh from December 16, reports PTI from Agartala.
“Both the Government of India and the Government of Bangladesh, including my state government, have been instructed to inspect the transmission line and see that it his activated before December 16 because it is an auspicious day in Bangladesh, that is Bangladesh Bijoy Dibosh. So, it can be operated and power can be thrown from that date and taking this mission on Bangladesh side and Indian side we are trying to do it,” said M K Chowdhury, Director Technical, Tripura State Electricity Corporation Limited (TSECL).
“Bangladesh and India would ink an agreement for dispatch of 100 MW power from Palatana project on November 27 in Delhi,” M K Chowdhury said.
"We are at the last moment of commissioning of the lines, we are doing the fine tuning works and resolving the small discrepancies between the two countries we came to Tripura yesterday and daylong we sat together and all the issues are solved."
It (the agreement) would also decide about the tariff rate of power,” he said.
He said the transmission line would be put to live for testing from December 10-15.
He said, a two-day technical meeting between the two countries concluded here yesterday to review the progress of works for drawing the 47 km long 400 kv high tension wire from Suryamaninagar power sub-station here to Comilla in Bangladesh for transportation of power.
Machines of the Palatana project were transhipped from Kolkata to Agartala by using the Bangladesh Waterways route and the Ashuganj river port on Meghna in the neighbouring country’s Brahmanbaria district, about 52 km from Agartala.
