6371 examinees absent in Barisal

More than six thousand examinees absent on the first day of Primary School Certificate (PSC) examinations in Barisal division that was started yesterday. Kazi Mahbub Elahi, deputy director primary education directorate in Barisal, said 1,74,828 students were registered this year and 1,64,457 appeared at the examination in 495 centers of six districts under Barisal division. As 6,371 candidates were absent in the examination halls and that number was less than three per cent of the total candidates, he added. The examinations, however, held peacefully in all centres.
According to the divisional primary education department in Barisal district 1,874 out of total 51,784 candidates remained absent in the examination. The number of absent candidates were 997 out of total 33,149 candidates in Patuakhali, 1,861 out of 37,224 in Bhola,  839 out of 19,639 candidates in Barguna, 274 out of 12,676 candidates in Jhalakathi and 526 out of 20,359 candidates in Pirojpur districts. Official source said that 6,200 examinees were absents in the first one examinations PSC exam in last year.
Absent of these huge number examines raised question among the guardian of the examinees like previous years. But none was take necessary steps in this regards till now said the guardians. They said that government, however, developed the structure of the school every year but local authorities failed to develop the system. Teachers claimed that it is very much difficult to run the teaching smoothly because they were always doing heavy extra work following the government order. Source said that poor education systems may be the cause of the dropout because maximum primary school is out of the proper monitoring. Primary schools were facing a serious crisis of the teachers.
