Navy chief off to Sri Lanka

Chief of Naval Staff Vice Admiral M Farid Habib left Dhaka yesterday for Sri Lanka to join an international Maritime Conference there, an ISPR press release said. Naval chiefs or their representatives of India, China, the USA, Pakistan, Australia and Thailand will join the conference titled "International Maritime Conference Galle Dialogue-2015" to be held on November 23 and 24 with the theme of "Secure Seas Through Greater Maritime Cooperation-Challenges and Way Forward". The core objective the conference is to form a regional forum through exchanging views on safety of regional maritime. Besides, naval chiefs of the region along with marine experts will try to formulate a set of directives through coordinated efforts for facing existing maritime challenges. The navy chief is scheduled to return home on November 26.
