45 students to vie for each BRUR seat
RANGPUR: Forty-five students will vie for each of the 1,210 seats under 21 departments in the admission test for the first year honours courses in the 2015-16 academic sessions of Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur (BRUR).
University sources said around 54,292 admission seekers have registered them for taking part in the admission tests to be held on December 6, 7, 8 and 10 at different venues in the city. Detailed information about overall admission process will be available on the university website (www.admission.brur.ac.bd) or mailing at [email protected] or through calling at numbers 01557 229215 and 01558136814.
IU celebrates 36th anniv
The authorities of Islamic University (IU) celebrated the 36th founding anniversary of the university yesterday.
IU Vice-Chancellor Abdul Hakim Sarker inaugurated the daylong programme by hoisting the national flag around 8.30am at Administration Building of the university while Pro-Vice-Chancellor Shahinoor Rahman hoisted the university flag. The national and university flag also hoisted at residential halls. To mark the day, the teachers and students of the IU brought out a procession from in front of the Administrative Building and paraded different streets of the campus. Doa and munajat were offered seeking peace, stability and progress for the university and country.
Astronomy Olympiad ends at DIU
A ten-day XI Asian-Pacific Astronomy Olympiad (APAO) in Bangladesh concluded on Daffodil International University (DIU) campus at Ashulia, Savar.
Two Bangladeshi young astrologers-- Md Mahanudunnobe and Fairuz Ishrat -- won ‘Best Result’ while Adishev Damir of Kazakhstan won the ‘Best Theoretical’ award in Astronomy Olympiad. Russian Ambassador to Bangladesh Alexander A Nikolaev handed over the awards among the winners of Olympiad at the closing ceremony held on the DIU permanent campus at Ashulia on Saturday, says a press release.
Bangladesh Astronomical Association, Daffodil International University, Cultural Department of Embassy of the Russian Federation in Bangladesh and National Museum on Science and Technology organised the Astronomy Olympiad in Dhaka, Bangladesh. Eight teams from Russia, Kazakisthan, Sri Lanka and host Bangladesh participated in the Astronomy Olympiad. Among the participants, 3 from Bangladesh, 4 from Kazakhstan, 3 from Srilanka and one from Russia achieved diploma.
Md Sabur Khan, chairman, Board of Trustees of DIU, MG Gavrilov, chairman, International Astronomy Olympiad, Sawapon Kumar Roy, director general, National Science and Technology Museum, Yousuf M Islam, DIU vice chancellor, Alexander P Demin, director, Russian Centre of Science and Culture in Dhaka and Mashhurul Amin, chairman, Bangladesh Astronomical Association, were present as the special guests at the closing ceremony.
BSMRAU observes University Day
GAZIPUR: Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Agricultural University (BSMRAU) observed its 17th University Day yesterday with festive mood, says a press release.
Vice-Chancellor of the university Md Mahbubar Rahman inaugurated the day by cutting a cake at 12:01 am. He hoisted the national flag around 10:30 am yesterday. Treasurer of the university Md Ismail Hossain Mian and Director Student’s Welfare M Mofazzal Hossain jointly hoisted the university flag. Students, teachers and employees of the university brought out a colorful procession on the campus to mark the day.
After Zohr prayer, a special doa also offered at the central mosque. Faculty members, including deans, directors, proctor, provosts and registrar Md Tofazzal Hossain were present on the occasion. On this day, (November 22) 1998, the Institute of Post Graduate Studies in Agriculture (IPSA) achieved the status of a full-fledged public university.
