Engineer Abul Kashem, former chairman of Bangladesh Juba Union central committee, died of prolonged illness at a hospital in the capital Saturday morning. He was 65, reports BSS. A valiant freedom fighter, Abul Kashem left behind his wife, one son, one daughter and a host of relatives and well-wishers to mourn his death, a press release said. Kashem was laid to rest at the Mirpur Intellectual Graveyard after his namaz-e-janaza. Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB) President Mujahidul Islam Selim and General Secretary Syed Abu Zafar Ahmed expressed profound shock at the death of Engineer Abul Kashem. In a message of condolence, they recalled his contribution in the liberation war and prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul. They conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family members. In another message, Moni Singh-Farhad Memorial Trust also expressed deep shock at the death of Abul Kashem.
