Salon owner killed
A salon owner was murdered allegedly by some miscreants in Isdaer area under Fatullah upazila of the district Saturday night. The deceased was identified as Abul Kasem, 42, son of Mahiuddin, a resident of Uttar Gabtoli area under the upazila. Quoting family members, police said the miscreants might have beaten and strangulated him to death and dumped the body near Osmani Stadium of the area. Being informed by locals, police recovered the body this morning and sent it to Narayanganj General Hospital morgue, said officer-in-charge of Fatullah Thana Asaduzzaman.
BCL man stabbed by ‘fellows’
A BCL activist was stabbed allegedly by his fellows in front of the campus of  Sylhet International University in city on Sunday morning. The victim was identified as Anjon Dev. He was the student of this university in law department. Sources said Anjon was standing in front of the university gate and waited for transport to join the procession.  Suddenly, a group of his 7-8 fellows stabbed him with knife, leaving him injured critically. Later, he was rushed to Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital for treatment.
Section 144 imposed over clash
The local administration has slapped section 144 in Goalabazar area of Sylhet district on Saturday afternoon for an indefinite period over a clash between activists of Juba League and Sramik League. Mohammad Shawkat Ali, upazila nirbahi officer of Osmaninagar, imposed the restriction to avoid the untoward incident. The restriction will remain in force until further notice. Mursalin, officer-in-charge of Osmaninagar Police Station, said additional police personnel have also been deployed in the area.
