A national workshop and knowledge fair on disaster risk reduction (DRR) and climate change adaptation (CCA) will be held on November 24-25 to discuss the key disaster management issues and to showcase current disaster management initiatives in Bangladesh, reports BSS. The event will be inaugurated by minister of disaster management and relief Mofazzal Hossain Chowdhury Maya on Tuesday at the Milky Auditorium of the Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) in the capital city. DAE is organising the event with support from UNDP. Chairman of parliamentary standing committee for the ministry of disaster management and relief Dhirendra Debnath Shambhu and secretary of ministry of disaster management and relief Md Shah Kamal will attend the inaugural session as special guest. Director General of the department of disaster management Md Reaz Ahmed, country director of UNDP Bangladesh Pauline Tamesis and deputy head of mission, Royal Norwegian Embassy Henrik Width will also attend the inaugural session. The national workshop and knowledge fair serves to simultaneously celebrate and showcase the progress made in disaster management in accordance, with the Hyogo Framework for Action and the subsequent Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction. Multiple stalls will be showcasing different DRR and CCA practices and approaches to provide information on current developments of Disaster Management by selected institutions.
